You can now contact our doctors online with eConsult. eConsult provides medical advice at the click of a button. Here you can learn more about your condition and contact your GP via an online form. This will allow the GP to decide on the most appropriate treatment options for you and you will receive a response by the end of the next working day. You can also request test results and extensions to fit notes.

Appointments can be made in person, by telephoning 01271 376655 or via SystmOnline if you are registered. If you have not registered for this service, please contact Reception.

The surgery is currently operating a telephone triage appointment system where a doctor will ring you back following your request for an appointment. The reception staff will ask you for some general information about your health issue or concerns in order to assist the doctors in prioritising the calls. It helps the doctors if you can give the receptionists as much information as you feel comfortable with and ensure they have a correct contact number for you. When the doctor rings you back it might be that the problem can be dealt with over the phone or that a doctor's or nurse's appointment may be more appropriate. Your appointment can then be made by the doctor for a mutually convenient time.

With the exception of emergencies please ring before 11 am for a morning call back and by 4.30 pm for an afternoon call back.

Appointments with the practice nurses and the phlebotomists can be made directly via reception. You can also request a telephone appointment on the day with a practice nurse or nurse practitioner. Warfarin appointments are now available to book online via SystmOnline.

The telephone lines are open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday and our evening surgery operates on Mondays 6.30 – 7.30 pm by appointment.

If you are late for your appointment ...

Please note that our clinics are usually fully booked in advance and if you are more than ten minutes late we may have to cancel your appointment in order to make sure that other patients are seen promptly.  If something arises that is going to make you late, please try and let us know, and we may be able to make arrangements to accommodate you.

Some patients are consistently late for their appointments and that is not fair on those patients who arrive on time.

Urgent Appointments

These will be seen the same day for such problems as severe pain, acute infections and deterioration in previously established conditions, i.e. asthma, but they may not be available with a specific doctor.

Extended Hours

We offer Extended Hours surgery on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. This surgery is specifically for patients who are unable to visit us during our normal working hours. The surgery is for pre-bookable GP appointments only and any patients needing to see a doctor urgently should still call the Out of Hours service, Devon doctors on 0845 6710270. (Nurse appointments, repeat and urgent prescriptions are only available during normal surgery hours).

Our reception team is here to help you. The receptionists answer the telephone, deal with enquiries and organise repeat prescriptions. Their job is very demanding so please be patient.

Why does the receptionist need to know what is wrong with me?

You Can Help Us By:

  • Being on time for your appointment
  • Letting us know if you need to cancel
  • Calling for a home visit or urgent appointment before 11:00 (see Home Visits)
  • Ringing for the results of tests after 11.00 am
